She was she was a Mexican American who brought the two worlds in a distinct manner. It was her sudden death that shattered the rising star's image. The tragic shooting death of Selena caused a reaction in the Latino Community that was comparable as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. The most well-known Latino artist in North America, Selena's music has influenced many people across different cultures. Selena might have been described by certain people as a Latina Madonna, but she is still a great example to follow. Selena's family values off stage and involvement in AIDS awareness campaigns make her a good example.
